Development of Industry Thinnest Chip-Type Electric Double-Layer Capacitor for Energy Harvesting and Wireless Sensor Network
Seiko Instrument Inc (SII) has announced the development “CPX3225A” chip-type electric double layer capacitor series for growing energy harvesting market, Near Field Communication (NFC) chip, and wireless sensor network systems. The new CPX series is capable of reducing the internal resistance by one third in comparison to conventional EDLCs. The industry thinnest and most compact capacitors can also reduce the leak current by approximately one-tenth. Read more
“i-ELOOP” World’s First Capacitor-Based Regenerative Braking System for Automobile
MAZDA Motor has unveiled groundbreaking system which company calls it “i-ELOOP”, a world’s first automobile regenerative barking system that uses a capacitor. “i-ELOOP” is expected to improve fuel economy by approximately 10%. Mazda is planning to introduce this new technology in 2012 company’s models. Contrary to batteries, capacitors are capable of charging and discharging rapidly with a property of resisting against deterioration through prolonged use. “i-ELOOP” will efficiently convert the vehicle’s own kinetic energy into electricity as the vehicle goes through deceleration, and uses that electricity to power the climate control, audio system and multitude of other electrical components within vehicle. Regenerative braking system is gaining popularity as a fuel saving technology. Read more
