Development of New flash-based In-Dash Navigation system by Pioneer
Gain in popularity for an on-board car navigation system around the world for its recognition as an important technology has contributed to its rapid price reduction, to full fill this market need both in terms of functionality and price sensitivity, Pioneer Corporation has launched new in-dash navigation systems featuring Pioneer-original new compact map database format “L-FORMAT” targeted at consumer markets of North America, Europe, Russia, and Australia beginning in June 2009. All the new in-dash car navigation systems employ built-in flash memory as a map data storage medium, with each model offering its distinctive features such as the newly-developed “L-FORMAT”, innovative user interface, and expanded web linkage functions (FEEDS) allowing users to export and import the data between their PCs and the navigation systems via SD card.
