Launch of Industrial Type ATA II SSDs with Maximum Capacity of 128 GByte
TDK has announced the development of SDG3B Series of serial ATA II industrial solid state drives (SSDs) with a maximum capacity of 128 GByte. The new embedded SSDs uses the uses TDK GBDriver RS3 Series of SSD controller ICs with read speed capability of 160 MB/s. The new SDG3B series in addition to existing auto-recovery functions and power interruption tolerance algorithm are equipped with error-correction function scalable to 44 bit/sector error correction code (ECC) plus an auto-refresh function to overcome the power supply issues. Furthermore, introduction advance static wear leveling function plus a new data randomizer function, ensures the distribution of data writing among all the flash memory blocks, maximizing the lifespan of the semiconductor storage. The new SDG3B series comes with SMART (self-monitoring and analysis reporting technology) providing a capability in determining in real-time the number of times each memory block is rewritten (erased). Release of High-speed SATA Controller ICs by TDK
TDK has announced the release of GBDrive RS3 Series, high speed SATA (Serial ATA) 3Gbps compatible NAND flash memory controller ICs, featuring data randomizer and auto-refresh functions. The new controllers with high speed access of 170 Mbyte/second supports 8 kbyte/page SLC (single-level cell) and MLC (multi-level cell) NAND flash memories in addition to its existing 2 Kbyte/page, resulting in high-speed SATA storage ranging from 128 Mbyte to 128 Gbyte, making them ideal to be used in wide array of applications from SATADOM other embedded storage to mobile internet devices such as smartphones or audiovisual devices like smart television and Blu-ray disc players.
