Mitsubishi Electric has release a prototype of high-output, high-efficiency 2GHz GaN (gallium nitride) transistors on a silicon (Si) substrate, a low cost alternative to more expensive silicon carbide (SiC). Sharp has announced the release of high output, high color rendering 25W-class LED lighting devices featuring industry’s highest luminous efficacy of 91 lm/W, that are designed for light sources such as store spotlights. The new LED devices have feature very low energy consumption through use of LED chips and phosphor with excellent high temperature properties. The newly developed LED devices offer a high 2370 lm luminous flux, while achieving a high color rendering index of 83 by reproducing the colors of objects. Read more

Mitsubishi Electric IPM V1 SeriesMitsubishi Electric has made announcement on launch of V1 Series, high output intelligent power modules (IPM), and targeted to be used in motors for controlling industrial machinery. The V1 Series comes with a low power loss along with its compact package for inverters with volume of 37 kilowatts or greater and servo systems with volumes of 15kW or greater. The IPM is a combination of several chips in one package which includes power chips using IGBTs and their driving circuits, as well as various protection circuits. IPMs are usually used for switching electric current at high speed. Read more
