Release of Industry’s Smallest Chip Resistors by ROHM
Rohm has unveiled its new ultra-compact MCR004 series chip resistors featuring a reduced mounting area and volume by 56% and 72% respectively, in comparison to previous series. The compact form factor is an achievement through use of high precision manufacturing equipment which has been developed in-house, resulting in mounting reliability of a resistor. The new MCR004 comes with rated power of 1/32W (0.031W) and a maximum element voltage of 15V, plus an operating temperature of -55 to 125 degrees Celsius. Read more
Development of High-Voltage, Low Power Consumption MOSFET for LCD TVs and PC Servers by Renesas Electronics
Renesas Electronics has released a new high voltage N-channel power metal-oxide semiconductor filed-effect-transistor (MOSFET) product, featuring low power consumption for such equipment as communication base stations, solar power generation systems, and LCD TVs and PC servers. The newly released RJK60S5DPK power MOSFET is suited for use in the primary power switching circuit of a power supply unit, converting AC to DC current. The new RJK60S5DPK power MOSFET employs a high-precision super junction structure, which unlike the conventional planar structure, is capable of lowering on-resistance without reducing the voltage tolerance of the device, resulting in reduction of on-resistance per unit of area. Introduction of high-precision super junction, will achieve a figure of merit (FOM), a key overall performance index for power MOSFET devices which has been improved by around 90% in comparison to the Renesas existing products. The new RJK60S5DPK power MOSFET offers a high speed switching, making to boost the power conversion efficiency. Read more

Development of Full High Definition 50-inch 3D PDP and High Precision Active Shuter Glasses by Panasonic
Panasonic just made an announcement on development of 50-inch size full high definition 3D plasma display panel plus a high-precision active shutter glasses which company claims will bring the true to life 3D images to your living room. The new PDP display has been developed based on Panasonic’s world first full HD 3D plasma Home Theater system which was developed and unveiled back in 2008 which was comprised of 103-inch PDP and Blu-ray Disc player. Why Panasonic decreased the size of its display, well according to the company it seems to be the most popular size for the home theater system. The newly developed PDP comes with Panasonic’s high speed 3D drive technology with capability of rapid illumination of pixels while maintaining the brightness; it also has incorporated the crosstalk reduction technology aimed at reducing the image ghosting which occurs when left and right eye images are alternately displayed. PDP were selected as the display technology due to their self illuminating characteristics with full motion picture resolution capable of fast response time making them ideal for display of fast moving images.
