Achievement of 14.8% Photoelectric Conversion Efficiency in Thin Film Silicon PV Cells by Mitsubishi Electric
Mitsubishi Electric made another stride in photoelectric conversion efficiency rate by achieving 14.8% conversion efficiency in a 5mm x 5mm thin film silicon photovoltaic cell. Mitsubishi Electric has achieved this conversion efficiency through use of triple-junction configuration. Currently Multi-junction layers in PV cells offer an efficient method in raising conversion efficiency in thin film silicon PV cells since each layer absorbs different wavelengths of sunlight. However, it is extremely difficult to adjust the characteristics of each layer in multi-junction structure, and for this reason most thin film silicon PV cells are only single or double layered. Tamron a leading Japanese high quality lens manufacturer known for its integrated development and design has made an announcement on development of a new mini-dome monitoring camera for indoor use. The newly developed DC28105P-12 comes with a built-in high-quality vari-focal lens. The new product was developed based on Tamron’s know how on high-quality imaging technology in achieving high-precision monitoring. Innovative cultivation system for growing high quality Tomato
Sojitz Corporation made an announcement of the successful growth of high quality tomato with high sugar content through use of the original soil less plant cultivation system capable of minimizing the water consumption. This was done at the experimental farm in United Arab Emirates (UAE). The system was developed by Bio Venture Company Mebiol Inc which is co- financed by a main business group in UAE “Al Ghurair Group” and Waseda University in Japan and Sojitz.
