September 13, 2010 · Filed Under Trendy Products · Comments Off

Fujitsu has released a new MB86E50 series of USB 3.0-SATA bridge controllers, designed specifically for external USB 3.0 dual-port RAID and non-RAID configurations. The new controllers support RAID 0 (Striping) and RAID 1 (mirroring) as well as JBOD (“just a bunch of disk”) and Dual LUN configurations. Furthermore, the integrated high-speed encryption hardware makes the controller an ideal design choice for demanding RAID storage applications using external hard disks or solid state drives. In addition to this the new controllers features a transfer speed s of up to 5Gbps, hot plugging of devices and support for the USB attached SCSI (UAS) and Bulk-only Transport (BOT) protocols. The new controllers come with a high performance 32-bit RISC MPU and an embedded SSCG for optimized SuperSpeed performance while reducing EMI. Read more

Development of New Process for Integrating Low-Power, High-Speed RRAM devices on a 128-kbit Memory Chip

July 6, 2010 · Filed Under Trendy Products · 1 Comment

Adding new features while lowering the power consumption of IT equipments is in every manufacturer agenda. One of the top candidates in achieving this power reduction is within memory devices, shifting the demand for low-powered high-speed memory devices. This has lead researchers and manufactures to non-volatile devices requiring power for only read and write data and not for retaining data. An ideal candidate is RRAM, a new non-volatile memory type which are being developed by many companies. The technology comes with some similarities to CBRAM as well as phase change memory. So far different type of RRAM has been proposed based on various dielectric materials, from perovskites to transitional metal oxides and chalcogenides. Based on this, group of researchers at AIST (National Institute of Advance Industrial Science and Technology), Sharp Corporation, Institute of Semiconductor &Electronics Technologies of ULVAC and Professor Kazuya Nakayama and Akio Kitagawa of Kanazawa University has successfully, developed a process for integrating low-power, high-speed non-volatile resistance random access memory (RRAM) devices on a 128-kbit memory chip. Development of Industry’s First Thin-Film Common Mode Filter featuring High Speed Differential Transmission Common Mode Noise Suppression and ESD Protection in a Single Component

April 27, 2010 · Filed Under Trendy Products · 4 Comments

TDK-EPC has successfully developed the world’s first thin-film common mode filter featuring both high-speed differential transmission common mode noise suppression and ESD (Electrostatic discharge) protection all in a single component. The new filter has a form factor of (1.25 x 1.00 x 0.60 mm3), using the proprietary thin-film circuit formation and materials technologies. Successful addition of ESD suppressor function to the already existing EMI (Electromagnetic interface)function in this newly developed filter has helped to eliminate any needs for additional varistor for ESD suppression, resulting in reduced number of components and mounting area, as well as further miniaturization of mobile devices.
