Seiko Epson has made an announcement on release of world’s first reflective high temperature polysilicon (HTPS) TFT liquid crystal panels for 3LCD projectors. The new display panel supports full HD contents and it measures only 0.74 inches on the diagonal. The new panels fuse the reflective display technology with the HTPS technology, providing a device level contrast ratio of 100,000:1 or higher, and ability of providing natural looking images and rich gradations. Development of a New Light Control System for 3LCD Projectros

Epson made an announcement on a joint development of a new projector light control system with Philips. The new light control system is targeted to be used for 3LCD projectors. The new system uses Epson’s high-temperature polysilicon (“HTPS”) TFT LCD drive technology as well as Philips’ lamp technology. The new system enjoys the improvement in both projector image contrast by approximately 500% and energy consumption. Read more

Epson is at it again by their announcement on development of yet another version of high temperature polysilicon TFT color panel for electronic viewfinders. This time the new panel offers QHD a 960 x 540 resolution in red, green and blue with a total of 1.56 megapixels which would be ideal for widescreen electronic viewfinder in broadcast and industrial camcorder for professionals. Development of this type of displays has been driven by spread of wide screen, high-definition content via digital broadcasts and high-definition video players which demanded improvement in image quality as well as improvement in features on camcorders and their smaller form factor and lightness for improved mobility.
