High-speed infrared technology leads to the success of the wireless-USB 2.0
KDDI R&D laboratories made an announcement in successful wireless transmission of USB through utilization of high-speed infrared technology. USB as the de facto interface for PC and other mobile devices requires the user to use a cable to connect the USB device to the USB host controller, but through use of this new technology the user is no longer need a cable for connecting devices and only need to make the devices to face each other for the data transmission. Among all the USB technology, USB 2.0 with a transmission speed of 480Mbit per second is used for various tasks such as for copy of digital contents and data backups. Read more
Roll out of Japanese WiMAX Notebook PCs

With shipment of mini notebook/ Netbook to increase in Pacific region in 2009 which has been growing since 2008 due mainly to falling price of mobile broadband services and increase coverage of third generation mobile technology, introduction of WiMAX services a viable wireless technology couldn’t have come at a better time. It all started with announcement of WiMAX wireless data services by UQ Communication today which states collaboration between UQ Communications Inc. and Intel in promoting and expanding “UQ WiMAX,” the commercially available WiMAX service from UQ Communications in Japan scheduled to be released on July 1st 2009. The new service with a flat fee structure will cost the user 4,480 yen per month. UQ Communication shareholders are KDDI CORPORATION, Intel Capital Corporation, East Japan Railway Company, KYOCERA Corporation, Daiwa Securities Group Inc., The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ Ltd. Internet Access via Wireless LAN using au’s mobile phone “biblio”
The “biblio” is an optimal model for reading, with a 7 GB data folder enabling users to carry a shelf-full of books around, and a 3.5-inch Full Wide VGA touch screen. KDDI went one step further by announcing “Wi-Fi WIN” services allowing users to access the Internet via Wireless LAN using au’s mobile phone “biblio”. Through “Wi-Fi WIN” service the user is able use Wireless LAN access point and the fixed broadband line instead of using the conventional au network allowing the user to access internet with the maximum speed of 54Mbps and freedom of smooth downloading of rich contents such as music and video. Au’s HTC smartphone
KDDI and Okinawa Cellular Telephone Company will commence sale of HTC smartphone. The E30HT runs on Window mobile Professional Edition ver. 6.1. The transmission capability of E30HT is at download speed of maximum 3.1 Mbps and upload speed of maximum 1.8Mbps. The demission of E30HT’s main body is 52mm in width, 106mm in height and 18mm in thickness. The E30HT is equipped with 2.8 inch VGA liquid crystal touch panel and five lines of QWERTY keyboards. The E30HT comes with a WALKINGHOTSPOT application capable of turning your mobile phone into a WiFi hotspot. With E30HT the user is also capable of erasing their personal data in case of theft or loss. The new E30HT will go on sale by May 1st, 2009

Personal authentication through arm swing motion for mobile phones
Well, we heard of all sort of personal authentication methods among them the latest ones based on biometric authentication technologies but the new method that has been developed by KDDI R&D Laboratories take a different swing at it well an arm swing to be exact. au’s new mobile phones
KDDI and Okinawa cellular will start to sell five new models of mobile phones on February 6. They are “Walkman Phone, Premier3″ by Sony Ericsson, “Wooo mobile phone H001″ by Hitachi, “CA001″ by Casio, “SH001″by Sharp and “NS01” by Kyocera.
The “Walkman Phone, Premier3″ which is more focused on music functionality side of things equipped with SONY’s Walkman Technology such as “Quality Audio Technology”, “Clear Stereo” “Clear Base” and “DESS”. Even when the mobile phone is closed the user is able to play and forward music. It comes in gold, pink and black. Read more
TransferJet technology equipped au mobile phone
KDDI gave a demonstration of Close Proximity Wireless Transfer technology “Transfer Jet” which can transfer data at very high-speed with very simple operation. “Transfer Jet” was developed by SONY and enables a high speed data transmission rate of 560Mbps, while eliminating the need for complex setup and operation. Sony Ericsson Xmini for au/KDDI
Is this an iPhone, or is it an iPod not likely. It is a new Walkman or should I say Walkman Phone. The product is being marketed under Walkman a perfect choice given the competition that we have being seeing in the phone/mobile Jukebox market. The product put more emphasis on music functionaries such as play, stop, rewind, fast forward and controlling volume than it is phone aspect of it. The key pad is so small that you think for a minute that company’s user target is children under 5, but never the less it comes with a typical Sony Ericsson slick design with a very compact body. Is ruggedness an answer for future mobile devices?
As a consumer we always take the durability of our mobile devices for granted being a mobile phone that gets bang here and there and dropped in too many occasions or the mobile PC that is put in an already over crowed hand bag or even our digital handy cam that has that very special Ms. drools signature on it. In all these situations or similar ones we never for one second think whether these sensitive equipments will sustain such over exerted tortures until we face the moment…. yes that moment that everything goes blank and we are all freshen out from all those irrecoverable important personal and impersonal data that was stored on them.
