Development of Industry’s Thinnest Glass Sheet for Next Generation Displays by Asahi Glass

Asahi Glass Company has made an announcement on development of ultra-thin glass sheet which has been made based on float manufacturing process. Measuring only 0.1mm in thickness, it is the world’s thinnest glass sheet, making it roughly as thin as sheet of paper. The new glass sheet is made of alkali-free glass, which is used as glass substrate for TFT-LCDs is expected to be used in next-generation displays, lighting, touchscreens as well as high-tech application such as medical devices. Release of ZigBee Compatible Remote Control and Receiver by SMK
SMK has announced the development of a remote control and receiver with company’s RF module which contains a built-in 2.4GHz band antenna compatible with ZigBee™ RF4CE1 for use in regular remote controls. The newly developed remote control is capable of N-to-N high reliability two-way communication, low power consumption, co-existence with other 2.4GHz band RF as well as security settings. The remote control comes in a form factor of 131mm x 58mm x 17mm and the receiver come in a dimension of 24mm x 16mm x 8mm. The receiver has a USB interface. The transmission distance is at minimum of 10 meter, with frequency range of 2400 to 2483.5MHz. The remote control has a supply voltage of 2.1 to 3.4 VDC, and for the receiver is 4.4 to 5.25 VDC.
