Sanyo eneloop bike Eco ModeSanyo released its new models of “eneloop bike” lineup of electric hybrid bicycles capable of self recharging while being used. The new models, CY-SPL226 and CY-SPL224, feature industry’s first “Eco Charge Mode” for more efficient regenerative charging capability. Up to now, the charging function which company refers to it as “Loop Charge” which enables charging while riding the bicycle was limited to going on down hill stretches or during deceleration. Installation of Solar Parking Lot in Tokyo by SANYO

Sanyo Electric as part of company’s effort in promoting smart energy systems by combining solar panels, rechargeable batteries and electric hybrid bicycles made an announcement that it will install “Solar Parking Lot” in Setagaya Tokyo in Spring of 2010. The solar parking lot will incorporate solar panels and a lithium-ion battery system plus provides electric hybrid bicycles, “eneloop bike“. The solar panels being installed on the roof of the parking shall provide the energy needed for recharging the electric hybrid bicycle batteries plus it will provide power to illuminate the parking lot lights. Sanyo unveiled today yet another addition to this eneloop universe product series with trendy and stylish products planned to be released by this fall. Among the new additions are the “eneloop portable solar”, a handy ready-to-use solar power generator and the rechargeable “eneloop neck warmer” series. Hitachi Ltd and Hitachi Vehicle Energy Ltd developed the world’s most powerful Lithium-Ion battery for a car with output power density of 4,500 W/kg, a 1.7 times higher in power density in comparison to their current car Lithium-Ion battery. Hitachi managed to reduce the internal resistance in this newly developed battery by employing a new Manganese anode for its electrode plus the use of Hitachi’s original battery structure for thinning of the electrode and power collection method resulting in world’s highest output for this type of battery.
