Japan Display Technologies (JDI) has developed a 5.4-inch WQHD (1,440 x 2,560 pixels) TFT LCD module which is designed for smartphone use. The new display features the world’s highest resolution density of 543ppi, allowing the user to enjoy a precise and dynamic images. Toshiba Display has announced the development of new compact 6.1-inch direct-view LCD panel with high resolution of 498ppi (2,560 x 1,600 pixels), a higher resolution than full HD format of 1,920 x 10,80 pixels. The new display has been developed based on fine-pitch and high-performance, low-temperature poly-silicon (LTPS) thin-film transistor (TFT) on glass substrates, as well as other fabrication techniques. Development of a New Wide Viewing Angle Technology for Liquid Crystal Display Panels of Smartphones and Table PCs
Toshiba Mobile Display has announced the development of a new wide viewing angle technology for liquid crystal display (LCD) panels, which company calls it “Soludina™”. The new technology adopts a new display mode which uses a pixel configuration suitable for high-definition (HD) display. The newly developed “Soludina™” is capable of producing crisp images from a wide range of extended viewing angles, ensuring accurate color reproduction over a wide range of viewing angles, which is required for such devices as smartphones, table PCs as well other type of mobile devices. The suitability of the new technology for smartphone will become apparent when it is combines with Toshiba’s low-temperature poly-silicon (LTPS) thin-film transistor (TFT) technology. The new technology will be on display during FPD International 2011 exhibition in Pacifico Yokohama from October 26 to 28, 2011.
Development of Multi-Touch LTPS Thin-Film Transistor Liquid Crystal Display by Toshiba Mobile Display
Toshiba Mobile Display has announced the development of 7.0-inch low temperature poly-silicon (LTPS) thin-film transistor (TFT) liquid crystal display (LCD) to be used in vehicle as well as industrial use, capable of multi-touch input on the display screen through its In-Cell design. Use of LTPS TFT technology will allow the integration of touch panel function within the LCD by forming the display pixel electrodes and TFT within the LCD, which will create a detecting circuit for electrostatic capacitance changes between the electrodes and the peripheral objects.
