Development of World’s Most Compact Electric Vehicle Motor System with a built-in Silicon Carbide Inverter

Mitsubishi Electric has announced the development of a prototype electric vehicle (EV) motor system with a built-in silicon carbide inverter. The new EV motor system is the most compact one in industry, with just half the dimensions of company’s existing motor system which uses an external inverter. The system is expected to contribute to a more spacious and greater energy efficient EVs. The newly developed inverter matches the diameter of the motor, where it can be connected coaxially within a chassis, resulting in a major reduction in size of motor system. Read more
