Development of a Technology for Magnetically Guided Capsule Endoscope System
This is a collaborative development of advance magnetically guided capsule endoscope system for intragastric observation by Olympus Medical Systems Corporation and Siemens Healthcare. Intragastric observation has come a long way, for some of the ulcer sufferers who had to endure the excruciating endoscopy session by swallowing a rather thick flexible tube for a long period of 5 to 10 minutes. Well, thanks to artistry of miniaturization technologies where this development is based of, the stomach examination can be performed in a more civilized and comfortable manner, where the patient simply swallow an endoscope which is in form of a small capsule. After swallowing the capsule the patient will lie down in a magnetic guidance system, similar to MRI system, where the physician can operate the capsule remotely via a joystick, for easy navigation of capsule to interested areas, where the capsule is capable of providing to the physician real-time high resolution images on a display panel in the examination room. The capsule will have form factor of approximately 31mm in length and 11mm in diameter. Read more
Development of Spintronics based MOSFET an Advance Semiconductor technology by TOSHIBA
On-going advancement in MOS field-effect transistor (MOSFET) devices as the result of continuing miniaturization of devices will inevitably hit its limit in view of such issues as performance degradation due to increase in resistance of global wiring and increase in power consumption caused by current leakage. In overcoming this issue spintronics has been considered as an ideal candidate among potential solutions in solving this issue, however the application of spintronics in transistors is at its early stage and it has been partially proved.
