Development of World’s First DRAM based on 25nm Processing Technology
Elpida Memory has announced the development of the smallest DRAM chip in the industry. The new DRAM chip has been manufactured based on ultra fine-width process migration technology, achieving a circuit line width of 25 nanometers (nm). The new 25nm based DRAM is a DDR3 SDRAM with a memory capacity of 2-gigabits. Company is expecting to have the 25nm based 4-gigabit DDR3 SDRAM commercially avaialbe by the end of 2011. Read more
World’s Thinnest Piezoelectric Speaker with Newly Upgraded Acoustic Characteristics
Murata Manufacturing has announced the successful upgrade of acoustic characteristics of world’s thinnest piezoelectric speaker measuring only 0.5mm in thickness. The company has successfully managed to reduce the distortion in band region of 2 to 4 kHz and upgrade the sound pressure level in low-frequency regions of 1 kHz and less, while maintaining the small product size. Release of High-Power, Low-Ohmic chip Resistors by ROHM
ROHM announced a new addition to company’s LTR series chip resistors with superior junction reliability. ROHM’s offers its thick-film lineup in various range of resistance from 10m ohm to 9.1 ohm. The wide terminal configuration of the newly developed chip resistors offers improvement in joint reliability against thermal fluctuations. SMK has announced the development of DSK Series detector switch featuring 16% reduction in volume, making it industry’s smallest form factor detector switch. The new DSK series lengthens the full-stroke by 1.6 mm and the on-stroke by 1.2 mm, contributing to flexibility in design. Demand for detector switches installed in a large array of electronic equipment has been fueled with proliferation of high-performance and large memory capacity equipment such as smartphones, where the switches can detect the opening and closing of battery packs and memory card covers in preventing sudden loss of important memory caused by incorrect operation. Introduction of 8-pin SIM Card Connector for Mobile Phones and Vehicle Navigation System
Alps Electric has introduced a new SCGC1B03 Series, an 8-pin SIM card connector targeted to be used in mobile phones as well as car navigation systems. The new SIM card connector is industry’s first connector capable of automatically locking the card in when inserted to prevent accidental ejection. For ejecting the card the user simply pushes the card a second time. Furthermore, the new series prevents improper card insertion as the card can not be fully inserted if it’s oriented incorrectly. Featuring a compact size of 18.44mm (W) x 29.0mm (L) x 1.55mm (H), the new connector is the answer to challenge of limited space inside of the navigation system. Read more
