World First Installment of Monolithic Ceramic Capacitors on Interposer Substrates
Murata Manufacturing has announced the mass production of monolithic ceramic capacitors on interposer substrates, a first time in the world for a monolithic ceramic that has been used as a countermeasure for squealing, a phenomenon whereby mechanical vibration occurs when a voltage is applied to a ceramic material. Sound is emitted due to the vibration of the printed circuit board. The new installment will provide the interposer substrate with an ability to absorb vibration generated in the capacitor, and greatly suppressing the transmission if vibration to the main board. Release of industry smallest 2012-size Monolithic Ceramic Capacitors by MURATA
Murata Manufacturing made yet another stride in commercializing world’s smallest 2012-size (2.0 x 1.25 mm) monolithic ceramic capacitors with a capacitance of 22 µF and voltage rating of 25V. Uses of monolithic ceramic capacitors with small form factors play an important role with increasing spread of LED backlights. The new device will be used in such products as Notebook PCs, LCD TV panels as well as other applications with LED backlights. Read more
