Nissan has announced world’s first SELF-HEALING iPhone case which was manufactured based on Nissan’s innovative self-healing paint finish technology. This is not a first time for Nissan to license its technology to non-automotive market. The company has been licensing its innovative technologies for various non-automotive applications since 2004, such as Miniature Thermal Imaging Sensor, which was originally developed to make night driving safer through detection of people even in places where the vehicle’s head light can not lit up. Nissan unveils a new 3-cylinder 1.2 liter DIG Supercharger Engine, with an aim to become the lowest fuel consumption engine in the world among the gasoline powered cars. The currently available Around View Monitor System for vehicles using screen display, has been designed to help the driver to steer the vehicle easily into a parking a space, using both the screen display as well as an audio buzzer in notifying its driver of moving objects around the vehicle, such as people. The system helps to complement the driver’s vision in such event as leaving parking space or entering into a junction or intersection with a poor visibility. In an effort to improve further the Around View Monitor system without adding an additional sensor, Nissan Motor has developed a Moving Object Detection (MOD) function in helping drivers by providing them with additional information when starting the car or driving at low speeds. Development of New Technology Designed to Prevent Vehicles Potential Rear End Collision by NISSAN

Well, according to Nissan announcement, the company has developed a new technology which Nissan calls it “Forward Collision Avoidance Assist”, a technology that has been developed to address both potential rear end collision one being in helping the driver to avoid hitting the vehicle immediately ahead of it in the lane as well as helping to reduce the potential risk of sudden braking, causing the vehicle to be rear-ended by the vehicle approaching form behind. The new system is capable of avoiding possible collision at forward speeds of approximately 60kph, the highest among the forward collision avoidance systems. Read more

Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. showcased its electric vehicle (EV) platform on a Tiida based prototype plus a sophisticated EV-IT system which has been developed by the company in support of 24/7 electric driving life style. The newly developed EV platform is comprised of highly rigid body, high-performance motor, compact lithium-ion battery with high power output and energy capacity. The Nissan in-house developed electric motor features the 80kw/280Nm for high response and powerful acceleration. The 24kWh laminated compact Li-ion battery pack is placed under the vehicle floor allowing a smooth under floor air-flow resulting in reduced drag. Read more

To liberate themselves from dependence on the materials that may run out or at least become expensive Japanese companies are looking for alternatives. 31 metals are being used in Japan’s industries today they are thought of as vitamins of manufacturing as the amount is used in products may be small but essential, even a bit of such metals enhances the performance of principal raw materials adding strength or heat resistance. They are found in PCs, light bulb and many other products. For instance a mobile phone contains 10 rare metals almost none of these resources are found in Japan itself, that makes the prospect of any interruption of overseas suppliers an unhappy contingency to plan for.
