TDK-EPC has announced the development of multilayer ferrite coil featuring industry’s highest rated current which is 2.5 times higher than company’s existing products. The new MLZ2012-H series comes in a case size of EIA 2012, featuring current capability of 700 mA at 1.0 microH with a form factor of 2.0 x 1.25 x 1.25 mm3, ideal for use in compact electronic devices such as notebook PCs and digital still and video cameras. Introduction of New Power MOSFET Products by RENESAS

Renesas Electronics has released three new power MOSFET products, the RJK0210DPA, RJK0211DPA, and RJK0212DPA, designed for DC/DC converters that area used in such application as general point-of-load, base stations, computer servers as well as notebook PCs. The new power MOSFET are capable of controlling the voltage conversion circuits of the CPU and memory, like being used as a step-down circuit for converting the 12-volt voltage supplies by a battery to 1.05 V for use by CPU. The new products achieve approximately 40% lower figure of merit (FOM), on-state resistance times gate charge in comparison to the company’s existing products, resulting in reduction of power loss during the voltage conversion. TOSHIBA Unveils Industry’s First Notebook PC Featuring Playback of 3D Content

Toshiba has just made an announcement on introduction of world’s first notebook PC capable of 3D content playback. The new “dynabook TX/98MBL” will display the 3D content in the Blu-ray 3D format . The new “dynabook TX/98MBL” has a 15.6-inch LCD screen with LED backlight at a 120Hz scan rate. The new PC comes with WinDVD BD for playback the 3D content as well as NVIDIA 3D vision software and hardware. The new “dynabook TX/98MBL” 3D playback capability is based on the active shutter technology, where the system’s active shutter LCD glasses lighten and darken at the same fast refresh rate of the 120Hz of LCD, with an effective referesh rate of each eye of 60Hz, resulting in a high quality stereoscopic image. As use of rechargeable Lithium-ion batteries in such products as cellular phones and notebook PC is reaching commodity level, extensive research in developing high capacity batteries for use in electric vehicles is being carried out. But use of conventional lithium-ion batteries for use in automotive application faces some issues such as its resource limited materials that is being used as its positive electrode which is either cobalt or manganese as well as its high cost and complex manufacturing process which requires high-temperature sintering and control of fine structures.
