NTN has developed “Two Motor On-board Driver System” designed for next generation electric vehicles (EV) capable of powering the left and right wheels with individual motors. The system consists of two motors and a reducers as well as an inverter resulting in torque vectoring (Control and mechanism for actively distributing drive power to the left and right drive wheels). This capability would allow the left and right driver power to be controlled properly to suit the vehicle’s driving conditions which contribute mainly to driving performance, including steering capabilities and stability on slippery roads. NTN has developed “WIND LAB” industry’s largest testing machine for wind turbine extra-large bearings for helping to improve technical development of main shaft bearings of offshore wind turbines. WIND LAB applies load to bearings in vertical and horizontal directions using six hydraulic cylinders to produce the conditions as if the wind turbines are used in, for conducting detailed technical analysis and specification testing of bearings. Testing can be performed under ordinary conditions, as well as load condition under extreme situations. The machine is compatible with different type of bearings such as spherical roller bearings or tapered roller bearings. The “WIND LAB” incorporates the condition monitoring system for wind turbines (CMS) known as “Wind Doctor” for monitoring bearing conditions during the testing.

Engine Accessory belts have increased in tension all due to the reduction of number of cylinders thanks to decrease in automotive engines as well as larger alternator capacities. As a result of these changes idler pulleys for such belts need to have a higher load resistance. Majority of such idler pulleys are made of steel sheet where greater strength is required requiring cut iron pulleys with high load resistance or “High-load Resin Pulley”. Cut iron pulleys require mechanical processing, resin type pulleys offers wear between the belt and pulley caused by penetration of foreign matter into the engine bay, particularly on rough, unpaved roads. To remedy this problem, NTN has come up with “Low Section High Strength Press Pulley” for engine accessory belt featuring world’s load resistance. Read more

The big distinction between the conventional steering systems and direct adaptive steering is that in the conventional steering systems driver’s steering input is transmitted to the tires via a shaft whereas in the Direct Adaptive Steering driver’s steering input is transmitted to the tires via electrical signals eliminating any mechanical links between the steering and the tires, where the steering system becomes unaffected by undulations in the road surface, allowing for precise steering operations.
