Development of Static Pressure soldering technology by OKI

As machines in industrial electronic field are becoming faster and highly integrated making the printed wire boards (PWBs) to become larger and multilayered. Additionally with the growing trend in use of lead free soldering making it difficult to assemble machines. For instance, on a PWB with a area of 460 x 500mm and thickness of 4mm there are cases where a mix of over 10,000 surface-mounted components and insertion components must be soldered to it all by using lead-free material. Furthermore, to make this more of a challenge, installing an insertion component requires one to first perform reflow soldering of the surface-mounted components on both sides of the PWB, then insert the component terminal in the PWB’s through-hole, and then perform soldering. In conventional soldering method where soldering irons or flow soldering machine is being used , under filling of the through-hole can occur which is caused due to lack of heat or non-stable solder filling. But applying high degree of heat using soldering iron technique in order to avoid under filling may cause the cutting of internal layer patterns of PWB. Read more

Introduction of WiMAX Gateway and USB card by OKI

June 12, 2009 · Filed Under Trendy Products · 1 Comment

Based on newly introduced WiMAX mobile broadband services by UQ Communications Inc. in Japan, OKI has introduced a newly developed WiMAX gateway with routing functionality. The newly developed gateway set will satisfy the UQ’s gateway based services allowing customers to use the UQ WiMAX services at the convenience of their home through WiFi by connecting to WiMAX network and at the same time use the WiMAX USB type UD01OK dongle for outside of home use. The WiMAX WiFi Gateway UG010K which OKI refers to it by WiWiGW has WiFi conversion functionality allowing PCs and other WiFi enabled devices such as mobile gaming devices to be connected to WiMAX network. The newly developed set will be sold through the newly WiMAX MVNO partners such as NEC’s Biglobe as of July 1st, 2009.

Development of industry’s first water resistant surge suppressor by OKI

May 27, 2009 · Filed Under Green Tech, Trendy Products · Comment

Micro-surge a phenomenon which occurs due to impedance mismatch of motor cable and the motor increases as the speed of inverter switching becomes faster and application of voltage increases to improve power efficiency. This can cause malfunctions in the motors. Such effects include insulation deterioration in motor coils, which damages the motor.
A conventional remedy to over come this issue is the insertion of LC filter circuits between the inverter and motor to slow down the surge rise on drive signal waveforms and dissipate the surge energy as heat. However, as the motor power increased it becomes necessary to use expensive and large-sized high-power-rated capacitors and coils resulting in a larger space requirement and increase in both price and power consumption. Development of new technology in suppressing Polarization-Mode Dispersion by OKI

May 5, 2009 · Filed Under Trendy Products · Comment

In an intensifying effort for worldwide implementation of 40G/100G Ethernet standard and accelerating pace to achieve 100Gbps-class high-speed optical communications, the issue of PMD which is the major cause of communication quality loss in these systems is becoming increasingly a major concern. In Japan alone over 50% of current optical fiber networks which is a total length of network’s backbone if approximately three hundred thousand kilometers are of a type influenced greatly by Polarization-Mode Dispersion (PMD). OKI robotic office chair

November 10, 2008 · Filed Under Trendy Products · Comment

Leopard is a concept that incorporates robotic technology with office furnishing. This was developed in cooperation of OKI and Okamura Corporation.Okamura a 1945 founded company out of Yokohama currently is involved in manufacturing office furniture and ergonomic chairs among multitude of other products. The stand of this chair is in fact a robotic leg which was developed by OKI which mimics the muscle and bone structures of thighs and hip of a human body. The leg has a capability of jumping and landing as natural as human legs thanks to its mounted springs and accompanied motors. This is the first time for OKI to employ this technology into a commercial product since its introduction in 2005.
The Leopard does not come with motor but it is able to tilt forward when the occupant is standing up and sinks and provide the outmost comfort when a person is sting on it by using mechanical parts such as hydraulic cylinders and springs. Read more
