I don’t know why, but I always get a feeling as Japanese manufacturer is looking for the tiniest feature in a product to make it the world’s first, of course with much research done before jumping to that conclusion. Anyhow, this time the thinness and One-Seq compatibility is the feature that makes Kyocera’s new mobile phone the world’s first. One-Seg Digital Broadcasts receiver tuner module by Sharp

Today Sharp unveiled a new receiver tuner module for one-seg digital terrestrial broadcast capable of receiving two one-seg programs simultaneously. According to JEITA (Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association) the percentage of mobile handset shipments in Japan with the capability to receive One-seg programs exceeded 85% in December 2008. The one-seg capability is considered as an added value feature for the mobile manufacturers in an effort to differentiate their handset from other manufacturers in a highly competitive market. Panasonic just made an announcement of a new addition to its DIGA series High vision DVD recorders equipped with HDD. Both “DMR-xp15” and “DMR-XP25V” come with 250GB HDD. The “DMR-XP25V” additionally comes with VHS slot. These new series comes with new generation system LSI which company calls it “UniPhier” and equipped with the second generation MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 encoder which is an advanced AVC encoder. Read more
