Development of PV Inverter with Industry’s Highest Conversion efficiency by SANYO DENKI
SANYO Denki made an announcement on development of its two latest model of Photovoltaic Inverter system achieving the market highest conversion efficiency of 97.8 percent. In addition to its highest conversion efficiency both models require only a 0.68 square meter for installation. Furthermore, the newly developed inverter does not require any maintenance services for 10 years thanks to its components long-life cycle. Read more
Development of High Energy Lithium-ion Battery module by Panasonic
Panasonic made an announcement on development of a 1.5kWh battery module from 18650-type (18mm in diameter x 65 mm in length) lithium-ion battery cells. These types of batteries are widely used in laptop computers. The newly developed battery can be connected in a series and/or parallel in storing generated energy by home type photovoltaic (PV) system and fuel cells as well as in electric vehicles (EV). The battery module has a volume of around 7L and it weighs 8kg and has a voltage of 25.2V plus a capacity of 58 Ah. Read more
Development of highly integrated Organic Photovoltaic Module
Sunlight as a clean and inexhaustible source of energy provides an effective way in diminishing the green house effect. Solar Cells or Photovoltaic (PV) serves as a proven technology known for its ability in capturing and reusing sunlight to be used as source of energy, but the cost of generating power with the current PV technology is very high prohibiting the wide spread use of PVs as a result of this. Extensive amount of time has been already gone for research and development of Organic Photovoltaic (OPV) in a promise to provide a much improved sunlight conversion rate. During this research it was discovered that C60 Fullerene offers a very good organic semi-conductivity and it can be applied to the OPV module as an acceptor. The Fullerene was supplied for module production by Frontier Carbon Corporation (FCC) a Mitsubishi Corporation subsidiary and the world’s largest producer of Fullerene. Read more
World’s first photovoltaic power conditioner by OKI
A joint development effort by OKI Power Tech an OKI group company involve in development and manufacturing of power supply units and JFE Electrical & Control Systems resulted in industry’s first photovoltaic power conditioner. This product was developed to address the issue of power conversion inefficiency in insulated applications. This 10kW power conditioner provides a efficient power generation by applying a digital signal processing controller to an insulated DC-DC converter to be used in an outdoor environment with a focus on heat dissipation and maintainability. White goods in rescue of Japanese electronic manufacturers
Well it goes without saying that where there is a problem there is an opportunity. Now days where ever we turn our head the term of “Economic Down turn” can not be avoided. Well one of the success stories for Japanese consumer electronics manufacturers has been in growing sales in white goods which have been largely driven by impressive demand from overseas market especially from emerging markets. One of the reasons that are contributing to this success despite the economic slowdown has been that price and functionality level have increased. Read more
