Introduction of New Electronic Board by Hitachi Software

Hitachi Software Engineering announced new models of “StarBoard” an electronic board targeted for educational institution. The first version of “StarBoard”, PX-DUO-50 will be available from August 17 2009. “StarBoard PX-DUO-50” is designed for school ICT (Information and Communication Technology) by improving user interface through introduction of plasma display for its display panel and complementing it with digital terrestrial broadcasting tuner. The second version which is a projector type “StarBoard will be available sometimes in second half of fiscal year 2009. The second version by the tentative name of StarBoard Next-FX-DUO will come with a universal digitizer kit (UDK) which can support various sizes of TVs and blackboard. Read more

Development of 85-inch Full HD Plasma Display by Panasonic

Panasonic has announced the development of 85-inch full high definition plasma display designed for professional use. This is not the largest display developed by Panasonic. Back in 2006 Panasonic has announced the development of 103 inch plasma display world’s largest display size. The 85- inch display which has a screen size equivalent to four 42-inch display panels is only 99mm thick and it incorporates company’s NeoPDP energy efficient, double luminance technology. Furthermore, the new display offers a moving picture resolution of 1,080 lines with the contrast ratio of 40,000:1, which is the dark area contrast that can be displayed simultaneously on the same screen and maximum ratio of 2,000,000:1, which is the ratio of the brightness of a screen displaying an all-white signal to the brightness of a screen displaying an all-black signal both being the world’s highest. Development of world’s first Professional 3D Production System by Panasonic

With ever increasing acceptance of consumer market in 3D contents and with movie production studios such as Hollywood moving towards creation of more 3D entertainment content it is becoming increasingly important to create a more efficient 3D production process and environment. Currently, 3D content producers have to hand-build their own 3D production systems by physically connecting multiple 2D production devices resulting in a great deal of time and effort in producing a 3D movie. Development of highly flexible new conductive material by Fujifilm

ITO or otherwise known as “Indium tin oxide” is mainly used to form the transparent conducting coatings for wide array of applications such as Liquid Crystal Display (LCD), flat panel display, plasma display, touch panels, electronic ink, organic light-emitting diodes, solar cells, etc. But due to high cost and limited supply of indium, the fragility and lack of flexibility of ITO plus the costly layer deposition requiring vacuum manufacturers of such products are looking for alternatives. Based on this, Fujifilm made an announcement on a newly developed conductive material to replace ITO for transparent electrodes in above applications according to Fujifilm. Read more
