Olympus Imaging Corporation has unveiled its rugged style compact digital camera. The newly developed µTOUGH-3000 comes with all the characteristic of rugged product which are waterproof, shockproof, dustproof as well as freezeproof. The new µTOUGH-3000 can be submerged to a depth of 3 meters and shock resistance when it is dropped from a height of 1.5 meters, plus it can be operated at a temperature as low as -10 degrees Celsius. In addition to its tough feature, the new µTOUGH-3000 capable of HDTV (1280 x 720 pixels) movie recording due to its support for MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 movie compression format. With 1GB of built-in memory, the new µTOUGH-3000 offers its user with photo-surfing capability, allowing user to download favorite pictures from PC to camera, and then search desired pictures according to the recording information such as “date”, “iAUTO” and “scene mode”, and view them on the camera. Sanyo unveiled a new addition to its expanding eneloop family of products which company refers to as “eneloop universe”. This time Sanyo has come up with stick-type Handy Power Source targeted for easy charging of mobile devices. Through use of USB port the KBC-D1AS is capable of easily charging various mobile devices such as mobile phones, portable games units as well as personal audio devices. Seiko Epson made an announcement on release of reference design kit which is equipped with company’s driver IC, the S2S66A30. The kit supports the latest driver functions including an S2S66A30 equipped main board, an analog camera interface board as well as Linux-based driver recorder applications. The driver applications are royalty free source code and are available for download directly from Epson online site, including the source code will result in a significant time reduction in developing a driver recorder. Release of New UHF-band RFID Tags by Fujitsu
This follows Fujitsu’s earlier announcement on development of heat-sealable UHF-Band RFID tags for Garment Management back in April. I am assuming this is an upgraded version of the previously announced product. Anyhow, the newly announced flexible UHF-band RFID tags by Fujitsu and Fujitsu Frontech have a high heat resistance characteristics making it the world’s first. It can withstand temperature of 121 degrees Celsius which is necessary during the uniform sterilization process. The new tag is intended to be used in the uniforms of employees at manufacturing plants such as medical supplies and semiconductors with stringent sterilization requirements. Read more

Sanyo Electric released its upgraded rechargeable Ni-MH eneloop batteries improving on its number of recharge times. The upgraded eneloop can be recharged approximately 1500 times first in the industry improving up on 1,000 recharge times with its previous model. Sanyo achieved this by use of advance materials through development and incorporation of highly durable super lattice alloy, advance manufacturing method by developing a technology to protect the surface of the super-lattice alloy as well as introduction of advanced structure through use of strong thin outer case.
