A new Marketing Face Lift for Brother’s Retinal Imaging Display

Brother demonstrated the concept of a stationary type retinal imaging display which was developed by applying optical system technologies based on company’s laser printing technology and piezoelectric technologies for the first time at EXPO 2005 in Aichi, Japan. Brother continued its effort in this field by developing a spectacle type wearable RID prototype, and later in 2009 succeeded in down sizing the power source box responsible for storing light source module in this system. Brother since then has made some improvement to this prototype, and as a result felt the time is right to give a proper marketing name to this novel technology by calling it “AiRScouter”. Development of portable Retinal Imaging Display by Brother

This is the third round of prototyping RID device by Brothers. The first prototype was showcased during the EXPO 2005 in Aichi which came with a huge light box. The second prototype was out at early last year. With a plan for its public launch by 2010, Brother needed to down size the light box and they did exactly that. This time around the size of the power source box is about size of a HD drive which qualifies it to be portable. Read more
