Work is Underway for Development of 40 Gbps Compact, Low Power Pluggable Transceiver Module for providing 40 Gbps Serial Transmission to High Capacity Network and Storage systems
Mitsubishi Electric along with Oki Semiconductor, Opnext, Renesas Electronic and Sumitomo Electric Industries have announced Multi-Source Agreement (MSA) agreement in creating a transmitter optical sub-assembly (TOSA) and receiver optical sub-assembly (ROSA) for 40 Gbps pluggable transceiver modules. The member company will specify the common mechanical dimensions, footprint, pin functions as well as performance of the optical transmitter and receiver devices. Furthermore, MSA will specify key features including a low-profile and compact form factor pluggable modules with simple electrical interfaces which will provide a cost effective solution to the market.
