Seiko Epson has made an announcement on release of new 16-bit microcontroller with a built-in driver, optimized for use in small and medium sized segmented electronic paper displays (EPDs), like E-Ink SURF™. EPD is a fast growing market thanks to huge demand for products such as e-books. EPD offers a high contrast, flexibility, image stability as well as low power consumption, making it ideal replacement to liquid crystal display in many segmented display applications.
