In recent years demand for on-board electronic components that can contribute to the miniaturization of electrical devices and save space is on the rise. Furthermore, the number of electric devices installed in limited space is increasing. In respond to these market needs TDK has announced the development of multilayer ceramic chip capacitor (MLCC) with a rate voltage of 100V targeted at mid range applications. The new developed MLCC will contribute in reduction of the gaps between ceramic dielectrics layers by approximately 40% compared to earlier products. Read more

In recent years, mobile devices such as mobile phones have incorporated in them various advanced functionality in addition to standard talk functions. Among them terrestrial digital broadcast, FM broadcast reception and GPS functions. Each of these functions requires a different signal plus if radiated noise affects the reception antenna or high-frequency circuit unit’s reception sensitivity can deteriorate making it necessary to efficiently eliminate noise from high-density mounted circuits and isolate each signal. At the same time as mobile devices become smaller and slimmer, there are increasing demands for space-saving component mountings and smaller components. Read more

As the smaller form factor for multi functional mobile electronic devices is becoming a market norm, necessitating their further miniaturization and integration of multitude of electronic components with in them.
Further to this, the use of lower voltage operating IC is gaining speed in order to maintain and increase device operating time while limiting their overall power consumption. As a result of creating such compact environment, today’s mobile electronic devices becoming more susceptible to effect of high voltage static electricity resulting in creation of an electrostatic discharge (ESD) countermeasures in preventing malfunction of such devices. DC power supply a logical answer to reduce power loss

December 25, 2008 · Filed Under Editor's Corner · 1 Comment

Existing home versions of solar power systems usually convert generated DC power into AC using a power conditioner and supply it to homes. However, because many home appliances currently convert AC into DC by using an AC adapter, power generated by solar cells is being converted twice first from DC to AC and then from AC to DC and as a result even with conversion efficiency of 90% roughly 20% of the generated power is wasted due to this double conversion.
