Development of Highly Water resistance Printing Paper by Teijin
Teijin has recently announced the development of water resistance, wet-strong printing paper which is made entirely with Teijin’s ECOPET recycled polyester fiber derived from used PET bottles. Being derived from polyester material makes the newly developed printing paper highly water resistance in comparison to commercially available pulp derived paper, making it ideal for use in outdoor or wet environments. Development of High Performance Polyester film with World’s Highest Level of Protection of UV light
Teijin Dupont Film Japan has announced the development of a new high performance polyester film featuring world’s highest level of ultra violet light protection. The new film incorporates unique technologies for UV absorption agent capable of blocking UV radiation for as much as 390nm, or nearly 100% of all harmful ultraviolet light. The UV protection properties are incorporated in the film itself eliminating any needs for additional coating as required with conventional films. Since the impurities produced during coating, by eliminating the coating the new film’s production would produce only one-tenth the amount of impurities compared to conventional film production, helping to reduce the overall cost. Development of World’s First Mass Produced Aramid Nanofiber by Teijin
Teijin Techno Products Limited, a Teijin Group company has announced world’s first mass production of aramid nanofiber.
Aramid nanofiber is a promising material that can be used as a heat-resistant separator in batteries offering reliable heat and oxidation resistance. However, up to now the production of aramid nanofibers were limited to laboratory level scale of production. Teijin nanofiber has been manufactured based on Teijin’s proprietary Tejinconex heat-resistant meta-aramid. The fiber has been uniformly sized with a diameter of just several hundred nanometer. Commercialization of 400 nanometer High-Strength Polyester Nanofiber by Teijin
Teijin Fibers Limited has announced the commercialization of new version of company’s well known “Nanofront” high-strength polyester nanofiber with diameter of 400 nanometers which is 22,500 times smaller than the cross sectional area of a strand of hair. Smaller version will help the company to expand its market penetration in such applications as high-performance air filters capable of trapping fine dust particles while allowing increased air flow in compact and energy efficient air conditioning system. Super High-Strength Nanofiber Slip Resistance Socks
Teijin has announced the application of company’s “Nanofront” nanofiber in running socks made by “New Balance”. Teijin Nanofront is used in most of the sock, with exception of toe, heel and cuff, creating a frictional force giving the new socks its slip resistance feature, preventing the sock from sliding inside a shoe, reducing blisters and shoe sores. In addition to this, Nanofront provide a high absorbency for added comfort. Read more
Development of Highly Conductive Carbon Nanofiber with World’s First Elliptical Cross-Section of Graphite Layer for use in Li-ion Batteries of electric Vehicles
New era of Electric Vehicles can foresee some new comers into this industry all due change in expertise required to put the EV vehicle together. One of the main attraction to make the whole electric vehicle things work is the their main battery component which up to now has been dominated by Lithium-ion batteries unless someone come up with better and more stable alternatives with low-cost manufacturing process, not to forget the safety standard a must in Automobile industry. One such new comer with long history of innovation not necessary in automobile industry is Teijin who announced the co-development of a highly conductive carbon nanofiber (CNF) with world’s first elliptical cross-section of graphite layers ordered in single direction with Tokyo Institute of Technology. The newly developed CNF features a length of 20 micrometers which is 10 fold of conventional CNF and a diameter of maximum 100 to 300 nanometers and a minimum 50 to 100 nanometers. Read more
Development of Highly Heat–resistance Bioplastic Film and Sheet by Teijin
Teijin has announced the development of highly heat-resistance film and sheet based on company’s BIOFRONT bioplastic. The BIOFRONT film and sheet features high transmission properties thanks to its unique stereocomplex crystalline structure which has been achieved with high purity L-lactate and D-lactate polymer made from renewable plant resources. BIOFRONT has melting point of at least 210 degrees Celsius, with good hydrolytic stability. Read more
Teijin begins Commercial Production of World’s Strongest Tap for Bulletproof Plates
Teijin Aramid has announced the commercial production of industry’s strongest tap which can be used for such applications as bulletproof plates, cut-resistance gloves, ropes and nets as well as high performance synthetic plates. The newly developed “Endumax®” is a new high-performance polyethylene (HP-PE) tape made of UHMWPE which according to company 11 times stronger than steel of the same weight and its stiffness is comparable to carbon fiber. The new “Endumax®” is addition of being strong has a chemical resistance feature. Read more
