Well the next best thing to Full HD in display technology before reaching true 3D display ear is 4K panels offering a resolution of 8.85 mega pixel which is four times the resolution of full HD (1920 x 1080) ideal for high resolution demanding special applications such as industrial design, architectural design and simulation plus for use in presentation in projecting a four full HD images at the same time where market is seeing a continued expansion. To meet such market need, Seiko Epson made an announcement on development of world’s first 4K compatible high-temperature polysilicon (HTPS) TFT liquid crystal panel targeted to be used for 3LCD projectors. Mitsubishi Electric has made an announcement on development of two new 15.0 inch XGA color thin film transistor liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) modules for industrial use. The two newly developed display feature different luminance but they both share the same 170 degree super wide vertical and horizontal viewing angle as well as a white light emitting diode (LED) backlight. Use of TFT-LCD in industrial application such as cash registers in convenience stores, control terminals in factories as well as measuring instrumentation is becoming a common, where depending on the application or environment, the TFT-LCDs could be installed vertically or horizontally to provide a better viewing and visibility angles. Among the various electronic devices with display system vehicle mounted camera system in particular have seen an increasing demand in worldwide scale. Furthermore, among display system for such camera system, demand for car audio systems with TFT LCDs is expected to grow due to growing awareness for ubiquitous car navigation systems. Currently, due to its cost effectiveness many audio systems with display panels are simply built by just adding a display monitor to an existing car audio system but optimizing the image quality in such system is technically challenging. In response to this challenge OKI Semiconductor has developed an image adjustment LSI incorporating a Timing Controller (TCON) targeted at small to mid sized TFT LCDs. Read more
