A drug-drug interaction or otherwise referred to as DDI is a pharmacological phenomenon whereby the presence of a second drug (inhibitor) alters the behavior and response of the body to a given dose of a first drug (substrate) leading to changes in the efficacy and safety of drugs when the two drugs are administered together, resulting in adverse side effects or even sometimes fatal death.

Generally, many drug candidates are identified by pharmaceutical companies based on highly specialized and target-specific assay systems which were then optimized and carefully screened through meaningful in vitro assays and animal studies; however still a number of these drug candidates fail in clinical trials (or even drop out of the market after they have been released) mostly due to safety reasons, one of them being potentially deadly DDI. Development of Data Conversion Software Capable of 3D Printing of Characters and Logos with Computer Graphics (CG) by DNP

DNP has made an announcement on development of 3D printing software (DynaCube 3D) capable of 3D printing of characters and logos at a low cost and short lead time. The new software was jointly developed with a group of researchers at the Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology under the supervision of Professor Yasuhiro Takagi back in 2008, as a 3D printing technology producing dynamic and in-depth expressions even when viewed with the naked eye. The software is capable of recreating 3D expression in the form of printed materials by taking the image data and converting it to 3D printing data prior to printing, then attaching the resulting image to a lenticular lens, which is a transparent sheet with a series of convex lenses lined up on the surface. Development of Organic Transistor by Tokyo University

The newly developed organic transistor has been manufactured by using special inkjet technology with sub femtoliter (fl)-class ultra trace droplet control. Using this sort of manufacturing process an organic transistor with a size of 2 micro meter wide Ag source/drain electrode line and with a 1 micro meter channel length can be manufactured. The volume of liquid discharge by nozzle of the inkjet is from 0.5 to 0.7fl and the diameter of each droplet is from 1 to 2 micro meters. The current method is an improvement to the existing inkjet technology capable of producing droplet of diameter sizes of 20 to 50 micro meters capable of several picoliters class droplet controls. Group of researchers at Tokyo University have developed a prototype of what is referred to as Ultrasonic imaging sheet. This sheet provides an ultrasonic sonar base image sensor which can be used in medical as well as other applications. “DynaCube 3D” a brand new 3D printing technology

This new method of printing images in 3D was developed in collaboration between Dai Nippon Printing, DNP Media Create and Takaki lab of The Tokyo University. The new method uses the same lenticular lens which is an array of magnifying lenses, designed so that when viewed from slightly different angles, different images are magnified. The technology is used to give an illusion of depth, or to make images that appear to change or move as the image is viewed from different angles. Read more
