Development of Vehicle-to-Home Power Supply Systems for EV by DENSO

DESNO has just announced the joint development of a Vehicle-to-home (V2H) power supply system for electric vehicles (EV) with Toyota Motor. The system is designed to work with Denso’s home energy management system and uses alternating current. The system is currently being tested using plug-in hybrid vehicles (PHV) to ensure its efficient use of energy. The V2H system is designed to quickly charge an EV with direct current from the HEMS storage battery, and it can supply the generated electricity in the EV back to the household. Read more

Development of Next-Generation Communication-Linked Electric Commuter Vehicles

Toyota Motor is on the role again gearing up for the 42nd Tokyo Motor Show to be held at Tokyo Big Site from November 30th through December 11th. This time around Toyota has collaborated with Yamaha Motor in developing a communication-linked electric vehicle concept. The new vehicles are an “electrically power assisted bicycle,” by name of “PAS WITH,” and an “Electric Commuter,” by name of “EC-Miu,”. The aim of this collaboration was to build a comprehensive information infrastructure where vehicles made by both companies can share the same charging infrastructure and integration with Toyota Smart Center, which is Toyota’s advanced energy management system which enables integrated control of energy consumption, linking homes, vehicles, power companies as well as users. Toyota Motor to Install Vehicle Audible System for Prius

While majority of consumers expressing their interest for purchasing hybrid or electric vehicles (EV) for their fuel efficiency as well as their environmentally friendly features, one major issue in using such vehicles are their near silent operating engine, to such a level that a committee has been assigned to assess possible countermeasures back in July of last year. The silent operation does not only concern people with hearing or vision disabilities or such, it is a concern that has been raised by everyone. Based on these findings, Toyota Motor Company has incorporated an audible system for Prius, designed to alert pedestrians as well as others audibly to the presence of a quiet vehicle, such as hybrid cars.
