Release of New Leisure Cruiser Boat by Toyota
Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) released a new premium cruiser ideal for getaway pleasure cruising or fishing. The new “Ponam-35″ features a rigid hull made of high-strength A5083 aluminum alloy ensuring higher rigidity, strength, durability and fracture resistance than fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP), as well as two 4.5-liter V8-cylinder engines which are derived from Toyota “Land Cruiser” SUV that offers common rail systems that perform computer-controlled fuel injection . The new “Ponam-35″ features an elegant curves, where the gunwale line flows backward from the bow and unique design of windows with comfortable accommodation. The “Ponam-35″ expansive cabin-door eaves providing protection against sun and rain, while creating an attractive rear view. The new “Ponam-35″ comes in size of 11.95 meter in length and 3.94 meter in width and it weighs 8,400 kg, with a fuel thank of 850 liters and freshwater tank of 170 liters in capacity. The new “Ponam-35″ could easy accommodate 12 persons passengers. The boat uses Toyota proprietary control technology to automate list-correction flap operation to adjust the boat to the optimal position reducing stress from wave impacts. The new “Ponam-35″ comes with a price tag of 59,010,000 JPY excluding consumption tax. The company is planning to sell 15 units of “Ponam-35″ on an annual base.

Development of Model Smarthome Project in Japan, to achieve Low-Carbon Community
Toyota along with 20 plus member organizations and businesses in Toyota City Low-Carbon Society Verification Promotion Council has initiated a verification test on newly developed model smarthomes with an aim to achieve optimal energy use in living spaces at the community level. Each smart home has HEMS that will link energy generating devices such as solar cells and fuel cells and energy storage devices such as household storage batteries, EcoCute heat-pump water heaters in the home with next-generation PHV and EV vehicles as well as intelligent household appliances to optimize and visual monitoring of electrical power supply and demand as well as control of individual household devices. Toyota to Introduce World’s First 99% UV Cut Front Door Glass on its New Vitz
Toyota Motor Corporation made an announcement that it will begin using car front-door glass capable of reducing the ultraviolet (UV) penetration by approximately 99%. Toyota is planning to use the new glass in its new “Vitz” scheduled to be released in to the market by the end of this year. Use of glass with windshield which reduces UV penetration by around 99% will result in approximately combined 99% reduction in UV penetration through the front-door windows and windshield of the new Vitz according to Toyota. Windshields using laminated glass can cut UV penetration by around 99% by inserting a UV-blocking film between two sheets of glass during the lamination process. Read more

Development of Lithium-ion Battery Monitoring Unit by DENSO
The conventional method for voltage control of lithium-ion batteries is done through conversion of analog voltage data collected from each cell into a digital format, where the digital data would be processed by an arithmetic circuit to check if a cell is operating at a higher voltage, if that’s the case the system will perform a discharge. This is done due to the fact that lithium-ion batteries have a higher energy density and consists of multiple cells with fluctuating voltages, makes it necessary to control the voltage of each cell. Toyota Motor Corporation today mad an announcement on development of highly scratch resistance clear coat paint soon to be used in company’s Lexus LS model. The newly developed paint is highly resistance to surface scratches which is resulted by repeated car washes.
