Well, it is a match made in heaven, Sony’s hardware and engineering expertise and Google’s deep knowledge in open software. Sony’s internet TV is based on Android platform, runs on the Google Chrome browser, coming with Intel® Atom® processor, allowing users to quickly search the internet as well as television content for easy access to entertainment and information online. The new TV comes with a Dual view, allowing the user to watch television while tweeting on what they are watching, or searching for relate contents on the web. Furthermore, it gives the ability to its users to bookmark content for easy access and add applications from the Android™ Market which will be coming in early 2011. Fujitsu Unveils LTO-5, the Next Generation Space Saving Tape Drives
Fujitsu made an upgrade to its ETERNUS LT20, LT40 and LT60 tape libraries by introducing LTO-5, the next generation of LTO tape drives. With introduction of LTO-5 the ETERNUS LT models will be capable of higher speed of reading or writing on tape, while reducing the required number of media slots, resulting in a cost reduction for storing data due to its large capacities. The upgrade will provide up to 3 TB of storage, helping client with much smaller system with more capacity on less tape. Read more
SHARP Unveils two new Models of AQUOS Blu-ray Disc recorders spporting New BDXL format
Sharp new AQUOS blu-ray recorders are industry first recorders supporting the new BDXL format for multi-layer recordable blu-ray discs, with the aim in expanding recordable storage capacity available on a single disc. The new BDXL format extends the allowable dual-layer format storage capacity of up to 50GB, to triple-layer discs at 100GB as well as quadruple-layer discs at 128GB. Read more
TOSHIBA Unveils Industry’s First Dual Touch Screen Mini Notebook PC
Toshiba celebrated its 25 anniversary of its potable PC business with a release of mini-notebook PC “liberto W100” a world’s first dual-touch-screen. The new dual 7.0-inch wide LCDs offer a display that is equivalent to a 10.0-inch wide screen. The libretto W100 comes in a clamshell case that opens like a book or a notebook PC, offering industry’s first Windows based dual touch-sensitive screens. When it is used as a PC it displays a haptic keyboard on the lower screen, and when it is held vertically, it turns into an e-book reader displaying a double page spread. Panasonic Unveils Industry’s Largest Full HD 3D Plasma Display Panels
It looks like the TV manufacturers once again are looking for a new marketing buzz to increase their competitive edge, and it seems 3D is it. Like others announcing their entry in 3D display market, Panasonic made its own announcement today on introduction of world’s largest full HD 3D plasma display panels (PDPs). The new displays come in sizes of 152-, 103-, and 85-inch, models TH-152UX1,TH-103VX200,TH-85VX200 respectively. In applications ranging from digital signage to business presentation monitors, the new displays include an industry highest native contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1 for overwhelming black reproduction and a high speed driving technology resulting in full moving picture resolution as well as a crosstalk reduction technology, a must requirement for creating a clear and crisp 3D images. SHARP Unveils its 3D Compatible AQUOS Quattron LCD TV based on Four-Primary-Color Technology
Sharp has developed the four-primary-color technology based on company’s proprietary UV2A technology, a new technology that adds yellow to the RBG (red, blue, green) primary colors, resulting in dramatic improvement in picture color quality.Through use of this technology, the company has significantly improved the light utilization efficiency contributing to reduced power consumption by approximately 10% in comparison to previous models with UV2A technology. Fujitsu Unveils its Color Electronic Paper with World’s Highest Level Color Image Quality
Fujitsu Laboratories has successfully developed a newly enhanced color electronic paper featuring the world’s highest level of color image quality. The improved contrast ration of 7:1, a three times improvement in comparison to Fujitsu’s previous version was achieved through extensive redesigning of the panel structure and image re-write methods, which was improved by 0.7 seconds, a two fold increase in comparison to the previous version. TOSHIBA Unveils Industry’s Highest Capacity HDD Available for Automotive Applications
Toshiba made an announcement on development of a new hard disk drive (HDD) with 200GB storage capacity in a single platter design. The new 2.5-inch, 200GB MK2060GSC features a rotational speed of 4,200RPM with a serial ATA interface, making it industry’s highest capacity HDD currently available for automotive applications.
