Release of New System LSI Devices by NEC Electronics

NEC Electronics made an announcement on development of new system-on-chips (SoCs), the EC-4260 (NaviEngine-MID) and EC-4250 (NaviEngine-mini) targeted to be implemented into automotive infotainment systems. The new systems were designed to meet the performance, peripheral set and software ecosystem which is demanded by high-performance application s such as navigation, infotainment and telematics systems. The new EC-4260 three ARM-11 base CPU cores operates at 1440 MIPS at 400 MHz, while the EC-4250 performs 960 MIPS using only two ARM-11 cores. The multi CPU core architecture in the new systems support symmetrical multi-processing (SMP) mode whereby single version of operating system is running on multiple cores and tasks are dynamically allocated to cores at runtime resulting in maximum utilization of available processing power. Sony unveiled it latest release of DVDirect series DVD writer capable of one touch dubbing with any needs for a PC. The VRD-MC6 is able to dub both high definition and standard definition home videos into a 12 cm DVD by just one-touch without use of PC. VRD-MC6 features a compact form factor of 144mm (w) x 52mm (H) x156mm (D) and weighs about 660g making VRD-MC6 about 60 % smaller in capacity and about 56% lighter in weight than the conventional model. Introduction of WiMAX Gateway and USB card by OKI

Based on newly introduced WiMAX mobile broadband services by UQ Communications Inc. in Japan, OKI has introduced a newly developed WiMAX gateway with routing functionality. The newly developed gateway set will satisfy the UQ’s gateway based services allowing customers to use the UQ WiMAX services at the convenience of their home through WiFi by connecting to WiMAX network and at the same time use the WiMAX USB type UD01OK dongle for outside of home use. The WiMAX WiFi Gateway UG010K which OKI refers to it by WiWiGW has WiFi conversion functionality allowing PCs and other WiFi enabled devices such as mobile gaming devices to be connected to WiMAX network. The newly developed set will be sold through the newly WiMAX MVNO partners such as NEC’s Biglobe as of July 1st, 2009.

Leakage of personal as well as corporate confidential information is on the rise so much so for portable storage medium devices such as USB memory devices due to their easy of transporting them from company to home. But portable memory devices are susceptible to theft and can be easily lost or the stored data can be even leaked through file sharing network when viewed from personal PCs at home.
