High-speed infrared technology leads to the success of the wireless-USB 2.0
KDDI R&D laboratories made an announcement in successful wireless transmission of USB through utilization of high-speed infrared technology. USB as the de facto interface for PC and other mobile devices requires the user to use a cable to connect the USB device to the USB host controller, but through use of this new technology the user is no longer need a cable for connecting devices and only need to make the devices to face each other for the data transmission. Among all the USB technology, USB 2.0 with a transmission speed of 480Mbit per second is used for various tasks such as for copy of digital contents and data backups. Read more

Development of wireless LSI technology capable of Video transmission powered by a button battery by NEC
NEC made an announcement on development of wireless technology in achieving about 10 times of speed and power performance over the currently used technology through use of time division demodulation processing of FDM (Frequency Division Multiplexing) signal. NEC has demonstrated the basic operation of this technology by using a prototype of wireless LSI equipped with this newly developed technology. Additionally, NEC has developed a power conversion technology capable of converting part of the radio wave energy received by LSI as a thermal noise during the process of filtering and amplification in LSI which is not used for demodulation into power.
