World’s First Commercial Plant of Microwave-Assisted Polymer Synthesis Process
Manufacturing of industrial chemicals like organic compounds and polymeric materials usually involves procedures which are done at high temperature for an extended period of time requiring large amounts of organic solvents which results in producing harmful wastes as by-products forcing the manufacturer of such chemicals to develop energy saving production process that do not generate wastes. In response to this need, AIST (Advance Industrial Science and Technology) in Japan has developed a first commercial plant for mass production of lactic acid polymer using a microwave heating. Development of World’s First 4K Compatible High temperature Polysilicon TFT LCD by EPSON
Well the next best thing to Full HD in display technology before reaching true 3D display ear is 4K panels offering a resolution of 8.85 mega pixel which is four times the resolution of full HD (1920 x 1080) ideal for high resolution demanding special applications such as industrial design, architectural design and simulation plus for use in presentation in projecting a four full HD images at the same time where market is seeing a continued expansion. To meet such market need, Seiko Epson made an announcement on development of world’s first 4K compatible high-temperature polysilicon (HTPS) TFT liquid crystal panel targeted to be used for 3LCD projectors. Toshiba unveils world’s first LCD TV with CELL Platform
Whether it’s Sharp’s UV2A photo alignment technology or Toshiba’s new Cell Platform, it is all clear that manufacturers of TVs are responding to consumer demands by putting more emphasis on picture quality of TVs rather than its thinness. Although the smaller and thinner TV platform can play a major role in future development of digital Multimedia technology through advancement of manufacturing processes such as role-to-role processing as well as introduction of other forms of screens and display technologies such as OLED and so on, but this may overshot the existing consumer by a mile if the only thing they are concerned about is superior picture quality and power efficiency. Toshiba’s announcement where company refer to it as the future of home entertainment which I think is a bit of over statement is unveiling their latest REGZA LCD TVs based on company’s pride and joy CELL Platform which is really a combination of high speed parallel processing of the Cell Broadband Engine and Toshiba’s advanced image-processing algorithms, together resulting in an arithmetic processing capability which is approximately 143 times than company’s current top of the line REGZA TV promising consumer with unrivaled image enhancement capabilities. Development of World’s First Gallium-Nitrate Transceiver Amplifier Chip set by Fujitsu
High-bandwidth wireless technology has been considered for sometimes to be the most viable alternative to fiber-optic cabling in a heavily build-up as well as surface areas with difficult topography throughout Japan. The technology on par with fiber optic cabling is capable of data transmission of 10 Gbps. An effective band to be used for such wireless communication managing faster than 10Gbps would be the millimeter-wave band ranging from 70 to 100 GHz. But in order for this technology to be practical and successful the transmission distances would need to go beyond several kilometers and to several tens of kilometers. Read more
Development of World’s First Optical Integrated Circuit by NEC
Development of all optical signal processing has a special interest in telecommunication industry where the speed of communication, low power consumption as well as the cost plays a significant role. One of the key items in achieving all optical signal processing is developing an optical waveguides which can exhibit a highly nonlinear as well as super-fast performance. Well, it looks like NEC has managed to do this. NEC Corporation made an announcement on development of world’s first compact tunable light source capable of operating using a low-power silicon photonic technology. The newly developed compact tunable light source is a micro-ring resonator with a variable wavelength. Read more
Development of world’s first Photo Alignment Technology for LCD panels by Sharp
Sharp Corporation today made an announcement today on development of world’s first Photo Alignment technology to be used for LCD panels. The new technology is capable of precisely controlling the alignment of liquid crystal molecules in a simple LCD panel structure. In achieving this Sharp has made use of special material that responds to ultraviolet rays and at the same time has developed UV2A Technology a photo-alignment technology capable for purpose of aligning film in LCD panels, providing a highly accurate control over the alignment of liquid crystal molecules corresponding to the direction of radiation. World’s First Plant-Based Bioplastic Eyeglasses by Teijin
Here is yet another development by Teijin Group Company with its first application for Eyeglasses. The new plant-based, heat-resistant bioplastic BIOFRONT is an advance polylactides with comparable heat resistance characteristics to oil-based plastics. BIOFRONT will be used for all plastic parts of eyeglasses frames including the temples, replacing the acetate which is commonly used for the plastic parts of eyeglasses. BIOFRONT unlike the acetate which cause bleaching in its contact with cosmetics or hire-styling products does not bleach. Read more
Development of world’s first device capable of encoding and decoding JPEG format imaging in Real-Time
